To say that the recent MIM trip to the Yungas Jungle of Bolivia was challenging and rewarding is truly an understatement. For nine days our team of 17 men representing 9 churches had an awesome opportunity to serve with SIM missionaries Greg & Faith Hurst and Bolivian believers at the SIM camp outside of LaPaz. It has been a 5 year dream of these dear missionaries and the believers in LaPaz to have a Christian camp that can be used for marriage and family ministry.

After treacherous and at times frightening travel over the Andes Mountains, we arrived at the El Puente (The Bridge) Camp only to find that the bridge across a raging mountain river had been washed out the day before our arrival. The local men were able to string new cables and lay a single wood plank path across the cables for us to cross over to the camp. It was amazing for our team to experience the protective and encouraging hand of the Lord as we completed our long day of travel.

Working side-by-side with missionaries and Bolivian believers, we cut and dug a new walking path from the road to the bridge through the jungle, rebuilt the bridge, prepared and poured concrete floors and patios, roughed in plumbing and electrical systems, built beds, and laid ceramic tile.

Our morning and evening devotional times were a blessing as we came together at the Lord's feet to worship, and study the Bible through scripture passages from James, Job, Nehemiah, Matthew, John, Joshua, and 1 Samuel. We shared each others burdens and challenged each other in our walk with the Lord.

At the end of our trip we spent some time in LaPaz at The Barnabas Home for street boys. This is an amazing ministry that strives to provide a Christ-centered home for boys coming off of the lonely streets of LaPaz. We played games, sang songs and ate ice cream and cake with the 8 boys who currently live in the home. Please pray for these boys as they struggle with the transition from street life to the home.

Thank you for being a part of our team serving in Bolivia. Through your prayers and financial support God raised up over $18,000 for this project which will allow the family ministry building to be completed in preparation for the first marriage retreat scheduled for the end of May.

Your financial gifts are being used right now to provide jobs for Julio, Nelson, Miguel, and Carlos as they continue construction at the “El Puente” camp.

On behalf of the MIM/ El Puente Team. Thank you and God Bless You.
